British soul singer Adele took home six Grammys on February 12, including song and record of the year for her smash hit “Rolling in the Deep” and album of the year for “21.”  The show began on a somber note with a prayer for late pop superstar Whitney Houston.

Adele also picked up awards for pop solo performance for “Someone Like you” and pop vocal album. She won in all the categories she was nominated for.

The best new artist win when to indie folk band Bon Iver, besting favorites Skrillex and Nicki Minaj.

The Foo Fighters landed five Grammys including best rock album for “Wasting Light.”

Kanye West , who went into the night with seven nominations, picked up four awards including rap album for “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

Bruce Springsteen opened the night with a performance of his new politically charged single, “We Take Care of Our Own,” from his upcoming album “Wrecking Ball.”

Whitney Houston was on everyone’s mind. The pop icon died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 11.

Later in the show Jennifer Hudson went on to pay tribute to her idol with a moving performance of Houston’s hit from the film “The Bodyguard,” “I Will Always Love You.”
