The Idolholic: Lucky 7, Which X Factor Finalists Survive Double Elimination?
photo

The Comet’s very own Idolholic, an industry insider who chooses to remain anonymous, offers us a blow-by-blow of the week’s elimination show. Who got sent home?

The good news: Guest performances by Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars were stellar.

The bad news: The circus production number was one of the worst things I have ever seen. Host Steve Jones has all of the personality and finesse of a tree stump, albeit an attractive tree stump. And I have heard from more than a few fellow viewers that, as the weeks go by, some of the initially strong talent is just not being sustained.

Drew and Lakoda Rayne are first to take center stage with one being the lowest vote getter. It’s no surprise that Lakoda is eliminated without any chance to sing for survival. Paula is now “mentee-less.” They have been in the bottom before and have really struggled to make it work as a makeshift group. But I do think they have a lot going for them. There is a place today for a Country female singing group. Hopefully someone will see the potential there and give them a chance to develop.

In quick succession, we find that Chris Rene, Rachel Crow and Josh Krajcik are safe. It’s clear Chris is making it on his backstory not his talent and should have been in the bottom. That leaves Leroy, Melanie, Astro, and Marcus. I predicted that Leroy and Astro could be battling to remain in the competition.

Audiences judge Astro on talent and he is still in the game. So I am half right, as Marcus joins Leroy to fight for survival. Frankly, I said Marcus was way off-key last night and he was again in the group number tonight. While he was better in his final performance, Leroy is unquestionably a much better and more seasoned singer.

However, LA will vote for Marcus and Nicole for Leroy, so Paula and Simon will have the deciding votes.

They split which results in a deadlock and the viewer votes break the tie.

Not surprisingly, Leroy goes home.
