California pop quartet Voxhaul Broadcast is the latest act joining the Voice Project, a charitable movement to help the women of Northern Uganda. Here, the band covers Smashing Pumpkins’ “With Every Light.”

The Voice Project was begun by Anna Gabriel, daughter of the legendary Peter Gabriel, and Hunter Heaney, to provide support to the women of Northern Uganda and help bring peace to the region.

Women’s groups in the war-torn area have been using songs passed by word of mouth to encourage soldiers and refugees—who have been too ashamed to come home—to return to their homeland.

Taking the lead from the women, each artist participating in the Voice Project covers a song by another artist, thereby passing the message on.

Past artists who have participated in this project include: Peter Gabriel, Andrew Bird, Billy Bragg, Nicole Atkins, and Delta Spirit, among many others.

A piece on the project with the band performing the cover will air tomorrow night (March 2) on “Last Call With Carson Daly.”

Following several performances at SXSW, Voxhaul Broadcast will release their debut album, “Timing Is Everything,” produced by Grammy-winning producer Tom Biller (Silver Sun Pickups, Seawolf, Liars), on March 22.
